When we first set out to create a landing page for our consulting business, we found two groups of web marketing service providers:
We didn’t need and couldn’t afford an end-to-end B2B marketing “solution,” (scratch the lobster), but we also wanted to look professional (no Ramen for us, either).
Why were there so few options for an “average” business like ours? All we wanted was a professional, clean-looking landing page, set up correctly, with the ability to promote an offer and collect visitor contact information. What was so hard about this?
Well, I do have one hypothesis: Most small and medium-sized companies don’t yet fully value web-marketing services. So, a host of providers has cropped up who will satisfy the small-business price point. Unfortunately, many of these ‘experts’ don’t know much more than their clients.
Bigger companies, meanwhile, understand the value of bringing in experts and are willing to pay top dollar for very robust solutions. This is fine, for companies with a healthy marketing budget.
So, finding ourselves “in the middle,” we decided to create Landr.
It’s not the most sophisticated web-marketing service out there, and it pretty much only does one thing: build landing pages. Eventually we might offer more, but for now we’re going to perfect what we’ve got and deliver high value for all those businesses like ours – who just want a decent hamburger.
